A couple years ago, Mount Moriah leader and occasional Angel Olsen backup singer H.C. McEntire released her debut solo album, LIONHEART, a collection of confident and poetic country songs. Today, she’s announcing its follow-up, Eno Axis, which is due out at the end of August. Lead single “Time, On Fire” is twangy and precise, building up from nothing until McEntire’s voice curls like smoke as she watches the seconds burn through the hourglass. “Time is one fire/ That shaky wick/ That Crescent hiss,” she sings. “Time is on fire/ That notch within/ The window sill…” Listen to it below.
