Strawberry Guy is the project of Welsh artist, songwriter, producer and multi-instrumentalist Alex Stephens.

Stephens released his first EP in 2019, followed by his debut album Sun Outside My Window in 2021. Both marked him as a bold new talent crafting deeply singular impressionistic music that touched upon everything from 19th-century classical music to golden-era 20th-century pop songwriting.

In the lead up to his debut album, something completely unexpected happened. His track Mrs Magic went viral. Once it took off, it never stopped, and he has now amassed over a billion streams and a legion of fans. Having written his previous two records while working as a cleaner, his life has since been transformed, and he now splits his time between LA and Liverpool.

Originally synonymous with crafting dreamy indie-pop songs at home, he has continued to expand his musical world while remaining rooted in the emotional honesty that first connected with listeners. Going from his bedroom to Sonic Ranch in Texas, the world’s largest residential recording studio complex, marked a remarkable leap, allowing him to realise the grand sound he had always been striving for. Working with a string quartet for the first time and layering the arrangements to sound like a full orchestra, he has continued to evolve his distinctive blend of intimate songwriting and ambitious production.

Writing, producing and mixing his own records, Stephens remains driven by a desire to create music that offers hope and clarity. Exploring vulnerability, hope and optimism, his songs balance subtlety, nuance and restraint with rich arrangements and timeless songwriting.

Strawberry Guy’s latest album ‘Give Me A Dream’ is released on 23 October via AWAL, representing the fullest expression yet of his artistic vision and continuing the remarkable journey from bedroom recordings to one of contemporary indie music’s most distinctive voices.
