Korea Girl
Biography
Formed in San Jose, California in 1996, Korea Girl emerged from the Bay Area indie rock scene with a sound built around clean guitars, understated melodies, and the interplay of male and female vocals. Drawing comparisons to bands like Blake Babies, their music balanced infectious pop instincts with an intimate, unpolished charm that set them apart from their contemporaries.
The band released two demo tapes in 1996 before re-recording the material for their self-titled debut in 1997. That same year, they released the Reunion 7-inch through Asian Man Records and earned Album of the Year honors from local radio station KSCU. Despite their early momentum, the group disbanded in 1999, leaving behind a small but enduring catalog.
More than 25 years later, Korea Girl have reunited, signing with Nettwerk in 2026 and preparing to return to the stage for the first time in nearly three decades. In 2027, they’ll join Panchiko on tour, introducing their music to a new generation of listeners while picking up a story that ended far too soon.
