Premiere: Hear King Buffalo’s Hypnotic + Proggy New Jam ‘Quickening’

[Loudwire]

Hailing from Rochester, New York, psych-inflected stoner rock trio King Buffalo have been on the rise since issuing their debut album, Orion, in 2013. Their sound has been compared to Tool and Pink Floyd, and you can hear that psychedelic vibe on “Quickening,” the latest single off the forthcoming Longing to Be the Mountain record, premiering here at Loudwire.

“‘Quickening’ bloomed organically during the writing process of the Longing To Be The Mountain album,” began drummer Scott Donaldson. “We knew early on that we wanted an animated video to go along with it,” he continued, “and immediately asked our friend Mike Turzanski. The imagery and overall fluidity makes it a standout. We’re excited for everyone to hear it and see it.”

Longing to Be the Mountain was produced by All Them Witches guitarist Ben McLeod (who also plays acoustic guitar on the album) and was recorded by Grant Husselman at Main Street Armory in King Buffalo’s hometown.
