Joseph Returns With New Single, Album & North American Tour

Joseph, the folk-pop trio of sisters hailing from Portland, Oregon, celebrates the April 28 release of a new album, The Sun, by launching a 35-date North American tour the same day at the Fillmore in San Francisco. Stops will include Los Angeles, New York, Chicago, Philadelphia, Nashville and more.

Joseph is taking a new direction with the first single, “Nervous System,” released yesterday alongside a colorful kaleidoscopic video directed by Vanessa Pla. , is a kicked-up anthem about struggling with anxiety and tending to ourselves with presence and compassion.
“Nervous System,” co-written with Tayla Parx (Ariana Grande, Khalid/Normani) and Wynne Bennett (HAIM, Twin Shadow, Janelle Monae), “is a punchy anthem about being our own life lines in times of anxiety and struggle.”
“It’s about self regulating and tending to ourselves with presence and compassion, rather than frantically reaching outside of ourselves.” singer Allison Closner says. “I’ve struggled with a lot of anxiety over the years, at times a constant inner storm, and it’s been easy to look outside myself to feel safe and secure. I’ve fought to find my inner peace, and through that process I’ve found that so much of the time I already have what it takes to calm my nervous system.”
Joseph first drew attention with its 2016 ATO Records debut I’m Alone, No You’re Not, which peaked at No. 104 on Billboard 200 but rose to No. 8 on the “alternative” charts. A single, “White Flag,” from the album reached No. 1 on radio’s AAA chart. Their 2019 album Good Luck, Kid peaked at No. 4 on Billboard’s Heatseakers chart.
In the last three years, Joseph has mostly played clubs (and opened for The Shins) for average ticket sales of 415 sold per show and a gross of $11,847.
That should change with this outing, with the move from clubs to theaters and larger venues including the Belasco in Los Angeles, Paramount Theater in Austin, Texas; 9:30 Club in Washington, D.C.; Brooklyn Bowl in Nashville; and a two-night hometown stand at Porland, Oregon’s Revolution Hall.
