Broken Social Scene Announce New LP ft. Feist & More, Tour w/ Metric & Stars: Hear “Not Around Anymore”

[Brooklyn Vegan]

By Amanda Hatfield

Broken Social Scene have announced their first new album in 9 years, since 2017’s great Hug of ThunderRemember the Humans is due out on May 8 via Arts & Crafts. It was produced by David Newfeld, who also worked with them on You Forgot It In People and their 2005 self-titled album. “His production suits the chaos of our songwriting so well…he’s got a childlike energy that is really contagious, when you get a piece of music that he loves, Oh my God, he’s bouncing like a little boy,” Charles Spearin says, adding, “There’s a different kind of honesty in this record. We’ve had success, we’ve lost friends, we’ve lost parents, we’re at this ‘what happens next?’ stage in life.”

The album features contributions from regular collaborators and former members Feist and Lisa Lobsinger, as well as Hannah Georgas. See the cover art and tracklist, and watch the video for the first single, “Not Around Anymore,” below.

BSS will also link up with a few old friends and collaborators for a summer North American tour. The shows have them co-billed with Metric (who also just announced a new album) and have Stars opening. See all dates below.

The NYC show is at Brooklyn Paramount on July 30. Tickets to that and all dates go on sale Friday, February 6 at 10 AM local time.
