Alabama Shakes’ Brittany Howard Announces Debut Solo Album, Shares New Song
She’s also heading out on tour this fall
Alabama Shakes’ Brittany Howard has announced her debut solo album. It’s called Jaime, and it’s out September 20 via ATO. Listen to the first single from the album, “History Repeats,” below.
The album is named after Howard’s sister, who died of cancer when they were teenagers. “The title is in memoriam, and she definitely did shape me as a human being,” said Brittany Howard in a statement. “But, the record is not about her. It’s about me. I’m pretty candid about myself and who I am and what I believe. Which is why I needed to do it on my own.” Read it in full below.
Howard will tour behind the new album this fall. Find those dates below, and grab tickets here. (Pitchfork may earn a commission from purchases made through affiliate links on our site.)
