Brother Wallace Ignites Soul Scene with Triumphant Debut ‘Who’s That’

Atrue force of nature has arrived in modern soul. Brother Wallace, a West Point, Georgia-bred artist born to “ignite pure joy,” is stepping into the solo spotlight with his electrifying debut single, “Who’s That.”

The track serves as a grand introduction to an artist who has spent a lifetime in music, moving from playing the piano in church at the age of 11 to sharing stages with gospel legend Kirk Franklin and performing at Madison Square Garden.

Today, Brother Wallace announces his signing to ATO Records, with a debut album set for this spring. “Who’s That” immediately establishes his unique sound—a joyous, high-energy blast of soul that flips heartbreak on its head. Wallace describes the song, about catching a partner with another man, as anything but sad. “The stance it’s taking is more like, ‘I’m all right, I’m not hurt—I caught you and now I’m moving on.’ There’s something almost triumphant about it.”

That triumphant feel is baked into the music. Produced and co-written by Dan Taylor (guitarist of UK rock band The Heavy), the track is scuffed up with grit, “Memphis horn blasts,” and “‘Sympathy For The Devil’ woos.” Recorded at Peter Gabriel’s Real World Studios, it’s a tantalizingly fresh take on soul, already praised by BBC6 Music’s Craig Charles as “so silky smooth.”

This single launches a new era for Wallace, a former K-12 music teacher who bonded with Taylor while touring as a backing vocalist for The Heavy. Now, with a show-stopping voice and a sound that is both classic and new, Brother Wallace is ready for the main stage.

Fans can catch him live on his upcoming Spring 2026 US tour supporting St. Paul & The Broken Bones.
