Soccer Mommy welcomed guest Phoebe Bridgers onstage Tuesday during her Los Angeles gig, with the duo delivering a rendition of Elliott Smith’s “The Biggest Lie.”

Taking the stage at the Masonic Lodge at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery, Soccer Mommy (a.k.a. Sophie Allison) and Bridgers first reminisced about touring together in 2018 before launching into their take on the closer from Smith’s 1995 self-titled LP.

Since the release of Soccer Mommy’s third album Sometimes, Forever in 2022, Allison has been on a streak of cover versions, which she collected for her 2023 EP Karaoke Night; that five-track release boasted renditions of Sheryl Crow’s “Soak Up the Sun” and Taylor Swift’s “I’m Only Me When I’m With You” alongside covers of songs by Pavement, Slowdive, and R.E.M.

Allison is in the midst of a short, four-gig tour where — through shows in New York and Los Angeles — she’s debuted an album’s worth of songs that are likely destined for her next LP. Those tracks include “M,” “Skin,” “Lost,” “Salt in Wound,” “Evergreen,” and “Driver” (all debuted at the Queens, New York gig, where she also covered Bruce Springsteen’s “I’m on Fire”) as well as the live premieres of “Abigail,” “Changes,” and “Thinking of You” at last night’s Los Angeles gig.

Soccer Mommy’s short trek continues June 7 in Chicago and wraps up June 9 in Nashville, after which she’ll embark on a European tour this summer.
