The Heaviness That Takes Over: Holly Miranda’s Daytrotter Session
Holly Miranda has accomplished and accrued an amazing amount of experience in a relatively short amount of time. Moving to New York City at the brave age of 16 from Detroit, she cut her teeth like many by playing in bands around the city before moving towards a career as a songwriter on her own. It didn’t take long for the young performer to catch the eyes and ears and of many now diehard fans in New York and beyond with Pitchfork noting “She’s a bona-fide singer-songwriter who can and will simply sell a song around just her voice and the sound of an acoustic guitar.” She would continue to perform live in Karen O’s solo band and found the stage on her own opening for the likes Tegan & Sarah, Florence and the Machine, and The xx. She even once shared the stage with the legendary Lou Reed at the world-renowned Sydney Opera House.
