Buddy Miller And Jim Lauderdale To Tour Together

In Support of Buddy And Jim

New Duets Record Available Now Via New West Records

Catch “The Buddy & Jim Show” on SiriusXM Outlaw Country Saturdays at 10pm EST

Los Angeles, CA – November 19, 2012 – Buddy Miller and Jim Lauderdale, both highly respected musicians, singers & songwriters, have announced tour dates in support of their critically acclaimed duets record Buddy and Jim (New West Records.) The two friends, who are touring together as a duo for the first time, will appear on the Cayamo Cruise in January with official tour dates beginning February 1st taking them through major cities including Washington DC, Philadelphia, New York City and eventually back home to Nashville for a show at Mercy Lounge. Label mate Max Gomez, an emerging young singer-songwriter in the seasoned vein of Jackson Browne and John Prine, will open the February run of shows.

Buddy and Jim features newly written songs and several vintage covers, inspired by Buddy and Jim’s love for traditional male duets records. As Jim recently told the Los Angeles Times, “Stylistically I think we both wanted this record to cover those bases of duet singing, mixing together the older string band styles from the Louvin Brothers, Johnnie & Jack and Sam & Dave.” Buddy continues talking about his preference of hearing two male voices together saying,

Buddy and Jim recently sat down at Buddy’s home studio, where the record was made, to talk about their friendship, history, song writing and how the album came together. This entertaining and insightful video is available to watch at http://bit.ly/RrKUT5.

In addition to making music together, Buddy and Jim also co-host “The Buddy & Jim Show,” recently described as “…highly entertaining…” by NPR’s Fresh Air. Each week Buddy and Jim invite artists to Buddy’s home studio in Nashville, where they tape performances and in depth interviews with a wide variety of artists and friends. The two-hour show airs on SiriusXM Outlaw Country Channel 60 Saturdays 10 pm ET (with Rebroadcasts Sundays 10 am ET, Mondays 2 am & 2 pm ET, Wednesdays 12 am & 10 pm ET.)

Known for his brilliant guitar playing and poignant songwriting, Buddy has released several critically acclaimed records and has produced albums for artists such as Robert Plant, Patty Griffin, Richard Thompson and Shawn Colvin. He is currently working with T Bone Burnett producing the music of ABC’s hit show “Nashville.” Buddy and his wife Julie released their last together Written In Chalk on New West Records just before

“I’m not a big fan of most three-part

harmony,” he said. “That third part bugs me. It kills the mystery. It’s usually too sweet,

and most of the freedom in the singing is gone in order to please ‘the harmony god.’

Guy-girl duets can get too sappy and melodramatic. Two guys have some meat, when

you sing you can dig in and mean it. And two guys singing are not polite.”

Buddy teamed up with Mark Ribot, Bill Frisell and Greg Leisz for the Majestic Silver Strings.

Jim is a Grammy® Award winning performer who is among Nashville’s “A” list of songwriters, with songs recorded by artists such as Patty Loveless, Shelby Lynne, George Strait and the Dixie Chicks. Each week he hosts the popular Music City Roots from the Loveless Barn in Nashville, and is the subject of a new documentary directed by Australian filmmaker Jeremy Dylan called “The King Of Broken Hearts.” Jim, who frequently collaborates with legends like Ralph Stanley and Elvis Costello, is also a critically acclaimed solo artist with dozens of releases, including his latest Carolina Moonrise.

Buddy and Jim are frequent musical collaborators on stage and in the studio. They join forces annually for the Americana Honors and Awards show, which Jim hosts while Buddy leads the all-star band. Both artists have taken home multiple wins over the past several years at the Americana Honors and Awards show.
